Gurhan Featured in Harper's Bazaar - May 2010

It's no wonder Haper's Bazaar chose to feature this stunning one-of-a-kind ring. The natural gray and brown striations in the stone perfectly compliment the hues of this season's fashion.

The Much Anticipated Gurhan Trunk Show!

We have all been gaga over this Turkish designer’s work for years (just like our friends Angelina Jolie and Angela Bassett to name a few) and this season’s designs do not disappoint! Gurhan managers to find the most exquisite opals, emeralds and rubies that simply pop against their extremely yellow 24k settings. From an edgy diamond band (coming to our site soon!) set in oxidized silver (adding unique style while quietly taking down the price as well) to this romantic necklace, Gurhan’s designs had something for everyone. We had the most fun with Gurhan’s brand new silver rings. The band is Gurhan’s pure white silver, as opposed to sterling (which, honestly, looks more like platinum) but the bezel is yellow gold which makes the ring feel more important. In a gold stack, the three stone rings look more like gold yet for a fraction of the price. Hint: these rings are the perfect graduation gift! Get on it mom and dad! If you couldn’t make it, you certainly missed out but worry not, Anne Sportun’s designs will be here this weekend!

If Only We Had More Fingers: The Epic Jamie Joseph Trunk Show

The UPS gal walks in and the crowd stops, cries are heard, someone faints. The new Jamie shipment has arrived! What a blast we had at the latest Trunk Show. Jamie sent us tens of sparkly wonders yet they flew off our counters so quickly that we had to call in emergency reinforcements. Women were buying rings six at time! Each ring is so unique, many even one-of-a-kinds, so everyone wanted to be the first to see the new merchandise and scoop it up!

From the insane blue opal ring dubbed the "Avatar Ring" because it seriously was from another planet, to the sexy black drusy, to the aqua's cut so intricately you felt like you were looking into a foreign glacier when you held it up to the light, women spent HOURS deciding which ring suited them best. It was fascinating how different one ring looked on different hands. The same stone that went dead on the pale, rose colored skin, popped on the girl who just got back from Costa Rica.

Some girls dubbed themselves "oval girls" while others preferred the square shape under their knuckle. We had Green Girls, and Purple Girls, and girls who only tried on blacks and whites. We even had a customer on vacation in Europe send in her daughter and, over the phone, picked out a great black mother of pearl ring for her middle finger.

Funniest moment: three women standing next to each other wearing blue, black and hot pink clothing, realized they were trying on blue, black and hot pink rings, respectively. Of course, they all took their rings home and will undoubtedly find more outfits to wear with them as so many of us are drawn to the same colors over and over.

P.S. We are off to the May Jewelry Shows soon! We will snag the best new one-of-a-kind rings from Jamie's latest collection and let you know what we found!

Gurhan For Everyone!

Oh Gurhan, you get me. Forever innovative and ready to accommodate us in these changing times, Gurhan, the Turkish jewelers who have traditionally designed exclusively in 24K gold, are sporting silver! We are positively tickled by the fabulous new designs at incredible prices. So even if stocks are down and the hurricane blew down your fence, you can still justify a purchase from one of New York's most exclusive designers. Phew.

Check out Gurhan’s mixed metal earrings for only $180. You still get that incredibly specific and elegant Gurhan style, yet for a fraction of the price. And don't worry, the 24K isn't going anywhere, so save your pennies!
